POST WELD HEADTREATMENT SERVICE
Electric Heat Treatment Services
Hydrogen degasification, pre-heating on-site, and post-welding heat treatment for pipes, weld fabrication, and pressure vessels. Flexible electric resistance heating elements are produced in various sizes to meet different applications and are connected to Low Voltage (65 Volt) or High Voltage (240 Volt) power sources.
Temperature control through a programmable microprocessor-based module and temperature measurement with pre-calibrated temperature recorders. All temperature measuring equipment is calibrated according to national standards.
PRE-HEATING
This is the application of heat to the base metal before welding or cutting operations. It does not change the properties of the steel, but is recommended under certain conditions to remove moisture and help ensure uniform expansion to eliminate unwanted stresses. Preheating during welding (also referred to as pre-heating) slows down cooling to prevent the formation of cracks under the bead.
STRESS RELIEF (POST-WELD HEAT TREATMENT)
This involves heating steel to a relatively high temperature and maintaining that temperature for a certain period of time. The goal is to reduce internal stresses caused by welding, quench hardening, or cold working. This process also has beneficial effects on the elasticity, ductility, and strength of the metal. The process involves heating the steel to a temperature below the material's transformation point.
ANNEALING
Basically, metal softening to make it easier to forge. This process involves controlled heating and slow cooling that results in softness and ductility. Additionally, this process removes gases, eliminates stress, and improves the mechanical properties of alloy steel.
This process is generally performed at temperatures above the material's recrystallization point.
NORMALIZATION
Almost similar to annealing, but the cooling process is much faster. This results in increased strength but lower ductility of the metal. This process also results in higher yield strength with greater tensile strength, and in most cases, higher impact resistance. This process involves heating the steel just above the upper critical limit.
